Following Spain’s lead, visits to the stunning beaches of Thailand were also popular with 14.2%% of UK members naming the Southeast Asian country as their top beach destination for a solo visit. A further 13.7%% of TourBar solo travellers from the UK named the USA as their top beach destination with other popular beach destinations including Australia (11.5%%), which secured the fourth most popular destination thanks to being home to over 10,000 beaches, and a seaside staycation at the UK’s pretty coastal towns (10.7%%) being the fifth most popular choice.
By using TourBar’s website and app, its 2,000 active UK members can sign up for free and register an upcoming solo trip to meet other beachgoers who are also planning to visit the same destination alone. Alternatively, for those members who already live near the coast but are still interested in meeting like-minded beach-bums without having to travel themselves, they can register as a Guide to tour solo travellers who are planning trips to their home region.
Solo beach holidays were most popular with members aged 25-34 with 33%% of these TourBar UK members naming a visit to the beach as their main reason for solo travel, followed closely by 30%% of members aged 35-44.
