Students who are planning to spend the summer break at home but are still keen to meet fellow travel-lovers can also register with TourBar as a Guide where they can tour international travellers visiting their home city.
Long-haul destinations proved to be the most popular options in the survey with a trip ‘down under’ being the second most popular country accounting for 19%% of young UK member’s plans for where to celebrate the end of exams. The sights of the USA (15%%) and a staycation in the UK (13%%) also proved to be popular choices for youth travellers. Other popular destinations for solo students looking to travel this summer, include short haul destinations such as Spain (9.2%%), the Netherlands (6.7%%) Germany (5.5%%), and Italy (5%%).
When it came to the deciding factors for choosing where to go, 30.5%% of young travellers named seeing the sights as top of their list for activities on a break. Visiting the beach (19%%) and a road trip (14%%) were other popular activities on the agenda for young travellers wishing to relax after a long term.
